However, if you have received your admissions packet / acceptance letter, go online and complete your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), Statement of Legal Residence (SLR), and activate your Cal Net ID. In addition, you must pay a non-refundable SIR registration fee.
You cannot register for classes until these forms have been processed.
Analytical Writing Placement Examination
The AWPE is a diagnostic writing exam required of all incoming freshman. You must take the AWPE unless you scored:
- a 680 or higher on your SAT II Writing exam; OR
- a 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement test in English; OR
- a 5 or higher on the International Baccalaureate in English exam.
The cost of the AWPE is $65, and is not covered by an athletic scholarship. The test will be administered at several locations throughout California on Saturday, May 9th, 2009. For information, the U.C. Office of the President has detailed information.
ASC Freshman Orientation
The ASC's Orientation is a College of Letters and Science, freshmen student athlete orientation, and, as such, fullfills the L&S freshman orientation requirement (thus, you do not need to attend a Calso orientation).
To register for the student athlete orientation, please fill out the enrollment form by Friday, May 22nd, 2009. The cost of the one day orientation is $90 per person (we have a concurrent program for parents).
Check-In will be held on Sunday, May 31st, 2009, from 8:30-9:30a.m. in Dwinelle Hall. A continental breakfast will be served during check-in. The Orientation will begin in 155 Dwinelle Hall at 9:45 a.m.
The Recreational Sports Facility parking garage will be available, located at the corner of Bancroft and Ellsworth, for this event. Make sure to purchase a ticket from the parking dispensing machine and display it in your vehicle before leaving the garage. Most machines only accept cash, so please come prepared. Signs will be posted to direct you from the garage to the Orientation.
If needed, view the transportation help or use these map services: Google Maps or MapQuest.
