Description of Computer Lab
The Athletic Study Center has a small computer-study lab available for student athletes. The lab is staffed by work-study students that are available to help with basic problems. Additionally, Richard DeShong is available for solving any computer problem and for quick tutoring on any computer issue. View Computer Purchase for his recommendations on computer purchases.
Current hardware:
10 Windows-based
computers with internet access.
Software available includes: Excel, Powerpoint, Web browser, Word.
Location:
169 Chavez Student Center.
Hours:
Mon - Thu, 8am - 10pm (Fall/Spring). For Summer: 9a - 5p, 7p - 9p.
Friday, 8am - 5pm.
Sun, 6-10pm (Fall Only).
Note: Evening hrs may not be available near school holidays or when evening tutorial is not running.
Administration:
Richard DeShong is the lab administrator. He is a computer hardware and software expert with over 20 years experience working as a customer service manager, network administrator, programmer, tutor and consultant.
A Lab Monitor (student work-study) is in the lab to ensure a proper study environment and answer basic computer questions.
The ASC gives special thanks for the support of Hardy Nickerson, who made the initial donation that allowed us to create the computer lab. Since that time, we've used many general purpose donations to keep the hardware up to date. Recently, the Class of 48 has given a donation that we used to improve the look of the lab.
